ABOUT THE LOCAL LOOP MARKET:
The Local Loop Market exists to create, nurture, and elevate a community of local small businesses who prioritize sustainability and “closing the loop” in all product offerings. Our goal is to make it easy for people to make simple adjustments in their day-to-day buying behaviours to move towards a more circular economy.
THE EVENT:
Come and shop unique and ethically-sourced sustainable goods in a great space, enjoy a steady stream of live music by local artists while sipping on some locally brewed beer, and earn a chance to win a gorgeous gift basket of curated local goodies every time you spend $5 at a booth! Kiddos and doggies are welcome.
Also there will be no shortage of Mother's Day gifting options...
THE VENUE:
Brickbox Studio (by MessyHouse) welcomes guests to a friendly and accommodating atmosphere. The venue - a bright pink building that you can't miss - boasts a quaint 1600 sq. ft. of open-concept space featuring exposed wood beams and large windows that allow for some great natural lighting. The venue is wheelchair accessible (curb-side), with gender-inclusive washrooms on-site. Accessible washrooms can be accessed at The Danu Social House only steps away.
COMMUNITY GIVEBACK:
The Local Loop Market will be collecting monetary donations in support of Parkdale NFP: Parkdale Project Read. Donations will be collected in the following ways:
- Optional 10% of vendor proceeds
- 10% of artistic talent collections
- Optional ticket add-on for attendees
- Profits of polaroid photos on site.
It is our goal to fundraise $1000 in charitable donations to giveback directly to the Parkdale Community. Parkdale Project Read (PPR) began as a volunteer-driven program operating out of the Parkdale branch of the Toronto Public Library, with volunteer tutors meeting with learners every week to work on reading and writing.
Local Loop donations will be funnelled towards the Learners First (General Fund), which directly support PPR programs and services including:
- Academic Upgrading Program for students pursuing post-secondary education;
- Distribution of emergency grocery gift cards to assist learners experiencing food insecurity;
- New resources for our community book clubs;
- Digital Literacy Training to teach learners how to use technology and access our remote learning groups and other innovative programs.
